Living like St. Peter

A post in our latest news section.

To celebrate St Peter and Paul day, we have dedicated time today to review our mission statement and think about how, as living disciples, we can go forth and keep the mission of our school alive.

The day started wonderfully as Year 4 led us in prayer, as they led a very thought provoking celebration of the word all about St. Peter.

Mrs Nicholson then shared the thought process behind today, helping us to understand what a mission statement is, the driver words that make up our mission statement and then, we split up into our pastoral groups to carry our a carousel of activities each focused upon one key driver word.

In the ‘loved’ group, we considered who loves us, how we show love to others and created a heart mandala filled with the names of people with love.

In the ‘inspired’ group, we used our bubbled and each looked at scripture references which include St. Peter and tried to find out more about him. We created our own St. Peter templates filled with information about him.

In the ‘called’ group, we thought about Jesus’ teachings and faith in actions to think of ways we have been called to serve.

The remaining pastoral group worked alongside Mrs Nicholson to create a Celebration of the Word, with each pastoral group in charge of one element. Then, at the end of the day, we gathered together as one St. Peter’s family to share our mission statement and celebrate the word together.

A big thank you to the FOSP for providing ice creams and ice lollies for everyone, making this day even more special.
