DT – Waterproof or Absorbent?

Yesterday, we became scientists to carry out an experiment as a lead up to our DT unit on boats. We learned the words waterproof (a material that doesn’t let water in) and absorbent (a material that soaks water up). We pretended we were in a rainforest and had to choose a material to build a tent. We tested paper, paper towels, glass, plastic, and fabric. We also discussed how we had to carry out a fair test, meaning we used the same volume of water each time.
