Year 5: A visit to the Sikh Temple

A post in our latest news section.

This morning Year 5 spent their morning visiting a local Sikh Gurdwara. During our visit, we we told all about the faith. We were taken outside to see the flag, which acts as a beacon, reminding everyone that the Gurdwara is a place of worship. Next, we were shown some of the schooling rooms where classes take place. These classes help people to learn Punjabi and read the scriptures. We were also shown the Darbar, which is where prayers take place. Finally, we were shown the Langur (the community kitchen) where we were invited to share a meal with one another. Overall, we had a wonderful morning and can’t thank our guide, Jasminder, enough for being so helpful, welcoming and informative.
